Laura Duval is a Brooklyn-based artist whose drawings and paintings mine the relationship between surrealism, improvisation and the body. With a focus on freehanded drawing, works that begin with a single line swiftly develop into a fluid morphology of images, ranging from the somatic to the abstract, a celebration and corruption of organic shapes. Laura’s work aims to circumvent the desire to label the people and things around us by framing a more direct encounter with beautiful but ambiguous forms, colors, textures and beings.
